Diabetes: Precision Test Strips

1:06 pm Diabetes, Health & Fitness

There are three types of Precision test strips of which you should be aware. These are Precision Xtra test strips, Precision Sof-Tact test strips and Precision Q-I-D test strips. They are each made with specific Precision blood glucose meters in mind.

Types of Precision Test Strips
The Precision test strips and monitors for the Xtra system use True Measure technology. That means that testing will not begin until there is enough blood on the strip. This reduces the chances of false high or low readings. True Measure technology also means that readings are not affected by other medications. That means that some interfering elements such as vitamin C and aspirin, which sometimes affect other systems, do not cause problems with Precision systems. Also, the Xtra system can test blood ketones, in addition to blood glucose.

The Precision Sof-tact system is designed for individuals who are sensitive to fingertip testing. It can be used on other areas such as the arm. It is a one-button automatic testing system, which also uses True Measure technology.

Precision test strips for the Q-I-D system are actually part of a simple to use two-step testing system. The first step is to insert the test strip and the second is to apply the blood sample to the strip. With this system, there are no colors to interpret.
